- Power supply WiFi module inactive
- Wrong WiFi credentials
- Router IoT or 2.4GHz settings
Problem Description
The Polaris VRX iQ or P965iQ WiFi-enabled robotic pool cleaner cannot connect to the iAquaLink app. The app does not find the robot during setup, the robot shows offline after previously connecting, or the WiFi indicator on the power supply does not light up. Polaris WiFi robotic cleaners connect through the power supply's built-in WiFi module, not directly from the robot in the water.
Why This Happens in Real Homes
These robotic Polaris models connect through a WiFi module in the power supply and the iAquaLink app, so a connection problem is usually the module state, the WiFi credentials, or router IoT settings. In real setups a 5GHz-only network or a stuck module is the blocker.
Confirm the module is active, use 2.4GHz with the right credentials, and reset the module before suspecting the robot.
Symptoms
- App will not connect to the cleaner
- iAquaLink cannot find the robot
- Pairing fails
- Robot offline in the app
- Cannot control from the app
- Connection drops
- WiFi module unresponsive
- Fails after a router change
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- Power supply WiFi module inactive
- Wrong WiFi credentials
- Router IoT or 2.4GHz settings
- WiFi module in a stuck state
- Outdated power-supply firmware
- Weak signal at the pool
- Phone on the wrong network
- 5GHz-only network
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
Step-by-Step Solution
Verify the power supply WiFi module is active
The WiFi module is inside the power supply unit, not in the robot. Check the power supply for a WiFi status LED (typically on the top or side panel). Solid blue or green means connected to WiFi. Flashing means trying to connect. Off means the WiFi module is not powered or has been disabled. Unplug the power supply for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Wait 2 minutes for the WiFi module to boot. If the WiFi LED still does not light, the module may be faulty — contact Polaris support at 1-800-822-7933.
Connect to the robot via the iAquaLink app
Download the iAquaLink app (the same app used for Jandy pool automation). Create an account or log in. Tap Add Device and select Polaris Robotic Cleaner. The app searches for the power supply's WiFi broadcast. Your phone must be within 15 feet of the power supply during setup. If the app does not find the device, manually connect your phone to the power supply's setup WiFi network (look for a network starting with 'Polaris-' in your phone's WiFi settings), then return to the app.
Enter WiFi credentials correctly
During setup, the app asks for your home WiFi SSID and password. The power supply connects to 2.4 GHz WiFi only — if your router broadcasts a combined 2.4/5 GHz SSID, the power supply may fail to connect. Create a dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID or temporarily disable the 5 GHz band during setup. Enter the WiFi password exactly — it is case-sensitive. Special characters in passwords can cause issues with some firmware versions. After entering credentials, the power supply takes 60-90 seconds to connect.
Check router settings for IoT compatibility
Some routers block IoT devices by default. Disable AP isolation (also called client isolation or device-to-device communication blocking) in your router settings — this prevents the app from discovering the power supply on the local network. Also ensure UPnP is enabled and the router is not blocking outbound connections on port 443 (HTTPS). Enterprise-grade routers (Ubiquiti, Meraki) often have IoT restrictions that consumer routers do not.
Reset the WiFi module on the power supply
If the power supply connected previously but is now offline, reset the WiFi module. Locate the small reset button on the power supply (on the side or rear panel, recessed — use a paperclip). Press and hold for 10 seconds until the WiFi LED flashes rapidly. Release. The module resets and enters setup mode. Open the iAquaLink app, remove the old device from your account, and set it up again from scratch. You will need to re-enter your WiFi credentials.
Update the power supply firmware
After connecting, check for firmware updates in the iAquaLink app under Device Settings > Firmware. Outdated firmware causes connectivity drops and app compatibility issues. The update downloads to your phone and transfers to the power supply over WiFi — keep the app open and your phone near the power supply during the update (approximately 5-10 minutes). Do not unplug the power supply during the update.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
This usually happens right after a router reboot or ISP change — the device rejoins the network but drops its cloud session silently.
The Polaris robotic cleaner manual is at https://www.polarispool.com/en/support/manuals — it covers power supply WiFi setup, LED status codes, and troubleshooting. The iAquaLink app supports both Jandy pool automation and Polaris robotic cleaners in the same account, so you can control your cleaner and pool equipment from one app if you have Jandy automation.
Most WiFi drop-offs happen right after a router reboot or ISP swap — the device reconnects to the network but silently loses its cloud registration.
- Power supply WiFi module inactive
- Wrong WiFi credentials
- Router IoT or 2.4GHz settings
- WiFi module in a stuck state
- Outdated power-supply firmware
Before you go — try one of these (they fix most cases).
