Matter
The universal smart home connectivity standard
Matter is an open-source, IP-based connectivity protocol that enables smart home devices to work seamlessly across Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and other platforms without manufacturer-specific bridges.
About Matter
Matter is a universal smart home connectivity standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). It allows certified smart home devices to work reliably across Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant without requiring proprietary bridges or separate cloud accounts. Matter runs over WiFi, Thread, and Ethernet.
Thread provides a low-power IPv6 mesh network optimized for sensors, locks, and other battery-powered devices. Devices carrying the Matter certification mark are guaranteed to work with any Matter-compatible controller, and can be simultaneously controlled by multiple platforms through a feature called multi-admin sharing.
