WaterGuru manufactures the SENSE, a smart pool chemistry monitor that installs inside the skimmer basket — hiding completely from view while testing free chlorine and pH using replaceable photometric test cassettes. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in San Francisco, California by Rob Memory and Woody Ang, WaterGuru took a fundamentally different approach to pool monitoring: instead of a visible floating device, the SENSE sits inside the existing skimmer basket and tests water as it flows through the filtration system.

Each test cassette uses photometric analysis (the same optical measurement method used in laboratory water testing equipment) to measure free chlorine and pH, providing lab-grade accuracy from a consumer device. WaterGuru connects via WiFi and runs on 4 AA batteries with approximately 6 months of life using lithium batteries.

WaterGuru hides inside the skimmer — no floating device cluttering the pool surface or getting tangled in cleaners. Photometric test cassettes provide lab-grade accuracy for free chlorine and pH without ORP calibration drift. The skimmer-mounted position tests water actually flowing through the filtration system, giving readings that reflect real pool conditions.

Battery power (4 AA, 6-month life with lithium) means no wiring or electrical work. The app tracks pump runtime alongside chemistry, helping optimize energy costs. Test cassette subscriptions ensure you never miss a month of monitoring.
