The Elk M1 shows a persistent "AC Fail" trouble condition that does not clear — the keypad beeps and the trouble remains even though power appears to be connected. The outlet may be off, the transformer may be weak or dead, wire connections may be loose, the AC Fail delay timer may not have expired, or the panel's AC detection circuit may be damaged.

Verify AC power is reaching the panel transformer

Check the outlet that powers the M1's transformer. Is the outlet live? (Plug in a lamp or phone charger to test.) Check the breaker — is it tripped? The M1 transformer should be on a dedicated, non-switched circuit. If the outlet is controlled by a light switch: someone may have turned it off. Move the transformer to a non-switched outlet. If the breaker trips repeatedly: the transformer may have an internal short — replace it.

Measure the transformer output voltage

Wait for the AC Fail delay to expire

The M1 has a programmable AC Fail detection delay (typically 5-60 minutes). After AC power is restored: the panel waits for this delay period before clearing the 'AC Fail' trouble.
