Pentair was incorporated in 1966 in Arden Hills, Minnesota by Murray Harpole and five partners. The company started as a paper and industrial products manufacturer under the name Pentair Industries (from "penta" meaning five, plus "air" referencing their first product — hot air balloons for the USDA...

Pentair ScreenLogic App Cannot Find or Connect to System

Device: Pentair ScreenLogic Interface (ScreenLogic2, IntelliConnect)

The Pentair ScreenLogic app on iPhone or Android cannot discover the pool automation system on the local network, shows "No Systems Found" during search, or connects locally but fails to connect remotely when away from home. ScreenLogic requires a protocol adapter (ScreenLogic2 Interface or IntelliConnect) connected to the IntelliCenter, EasyTouch, or IntelliTouch panel via RS-485, and that adapter must be on the same network as your phone.

Pentair IntelliCenter Not Connecting to ScreenLogic App

Device: Pentair IntelliCenter (IntelliCenter i10, i8, i5)

Your Pentair IntelliCenter control panel is not connecting to the ScreenLogic app on your phone. The IntelliCenter touchscreen on the equipment pad shows normal operation and controls the pool equipment locally, but the ScreenLogic app either can't find the system during setup, shows it offline, or loses connection intermittently. The IntelliCenter connects to your home network through the ScreenLogic Interface (Protocol Adapter) — a small module that plugs into the RS-485 port on the back of the IntelliCenter panel. The Protocol Adapter has its own Ethernet or WiFi connection to your router. When the app can't connect, the issue is almost always the Protocol Adapter's network link, not the IntelliCenter itself.

Pentair IntelliFlo Pump Error Codes and What They Mean

Device: Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump (IntelliFlo VSF, IntelliFlo3 VSF, IntelliFlo i1, IntelliFlo i2)

Your Pentair IntelliFlo variable speed pump is displaying an error code on the small LCD panel on the top of the motor housing. The pump has stopped running and the LCD shows a number or text code. IntelliFlo pumps use built-in diagnostics to detect electrical faults, flow problems, thermal events, and communication errors. The LCD panel on top of the motor housing shows the current RPM during normal operation and switches to an error code when a fault is detected. The pump will not restart until the error condition is cleared.

Pentair IntelliChlor Inspect Cell Light On

Device: Pentair IntelliChlor Salt Chlorine Generator (IC20, IC40, IC60)

The yellow "Inspect Cell" LED on your Pentair IntelliChlor control unit is lit. This warning light illuminates every 500 hours of cell operation as a reminder to check and clean the salt cell. It does not mean the cell has failed — it is a maintenance interval timer. The IntelliChlor control unit is the small electronic box mounted on the wall near your pool equipment. It has four LED indicators: Power (green), Generating (green), No Flow (red), and Inspect Cell (yellow). The salt cell itself is the clear cylindrical housing plumbed into the return line after the filter.

Pentair MasterTemp Heater Not Igniting Error Codes

Device: Pentair MasterTemp Pool Heater (MasterTemp 200, 250, 300, 400)

The Pentair MasterTemp gas pool heater does not ignite when called to heat. The control panel may display error codes, the heater may click without lighting, or the blower may run without gas ignition. MasterTemp heaters use a hot surface igniter (HSI) — a glowing element that lights the gas rather than a spark igniter. The most common failures are the HSI burning out, the flame sensor not detecting the flame, or insufficient water flow triggering the pressure switch.

Pentair IntelliFlo Pump Making Noise: Grinding, Rattling, or Loud Humming

Device: Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump (IntelliFlo VSF, IntelliFlo3 VSF, IntelliFlo VS, IntelliFlo VS+SVRS)

Your Pentair IntelliFlo, normally almost silent, has started grinding, rattling, screeching, or humming loudly. The sound itself tells you where the fault is: a gravelly rattle usually means the pump is starving for water and cavitating, while a metal-on-metal grind from the motor end points to failing bearings. Matching the noise to the cause saves you from replacing the wrong part.

Pentair IntelliFlo Pump Not Priming or Losing Prime (Air in the Basket)

Device: Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump (IntelliFlo VSF, IntelliFlo3 VSF, IntelliFlo VS, IntelliFlo VS+SVRS)

The IntelliFlo will not pull water up to fill the strainer basket, throws a Priming Failure alarm, or primes and then loses prime with air building in the clear basket. On a variable speed pump this is a suction-side air problem almost every time, not a dead pump, so the fix is finding where air gets in.

Pentair Prowler Robotic Cleaner Not Moving or Not Cleaning

Device: Pentair Prowler Robotic Pool Cleaner (Prowler 915, 920, 930, 930W, Warrior SE, Warrior SI)

Your Pentair Prowler powers up but will not move, runs but leaves debris behind, or the power supply will not light or will not detect the robot. On these cleaners the fault is almost always the power supply, the cable connection, the impeller, or a packed filter basket, and each has a fast check before you assume a dead motor.
