Understand entry and exit delays

The Cove system has configurable delays for entry and exit. Entry delay: the countdown timer after a sensor triggers in Away mode before the alarm sounds (default 30 seconds — gives you time to disarm at the panel). Exit delay: the countdown after arming before sensors become active (default 60 seconds — gives you time to leave). These delays only apply to sensors configured as 'Entry/Exit' type, not 'Instant' sensors.

Check the sensor response type

Each sensor is configured as either Entry/Exit (delay before alarm) or Instant (alarm immediately). In the Cove app or panel, go to Devices > tap the sensor > Response Type. Front door sensors should typically be Entry/Exit. Interior sensors, glass break, and back/side door sensors can be set to Instant if those doors are not used for normal entry. A sensor set to Instant triggers the alarm immediately with no delay.

Adjust delay timing

If the entry delay is too short (you cannot reach the panel in time): go to Settings > Security > Entry Delay and increase it (30-60 seconds is typical).
