Job Description Job Description Straight Line Communications is a growing technology and infrastructure company specializing in structured cabling and network solutions. We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Cable Technician with a strong background in commercial structured cabling and network infrastructure installations. This position is ideal for a skilled, detail-oriented technician with hands-on experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling systems. Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, label, and test CAT6/CAT6A structured cabling systems Install and terminate patch panels, racks, cabinets, and cable management systems Install and terminate single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and network diagrams Perform cable certification and testing using Fluke or equivalent testers Troubleshoot cabling and network connectivity issues Coordinate with project managers, IT teams, and other trades on-site Assist with data room buildouts and network infrastructure installations Operate lifts up to 40 feet (certification is a plus) Travel to job sites as needed Required Qualifications Minimum 8 years of structured cabling experience Strong experience with CAT6/CAT6A termination and testing Ability to read construction drawings and cabling schematics Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage field responsibilities Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Must have own industry-standard tools Must pass a background check and drug screening Preferred Qualifications Experience with fiber optic installation and termination Fiber certifications (FOA, Corning, BICSI, or equivalent) strongly preferred Experience with CCTV, access control, and other low-voltage systems Experience using cable certification tools and documentation software OSHA certification or other safety training If you are passionate about technology and want to grow with a company that values quality, professionalism, and opportunity, we encourage you to apply today. What you will own
- Install, configure, and verify network technician systems for residential or small-business customers.
- Complete clean site walkthroughs, document work performed, and confirm customer handoff requirements.
- Troubleshoot device, wiring, app, network, and integration issues using a repeatable field process.
- Coordinate with dispatch, support, and operations teams so jobs move from scheduled to completed without surprises.
Requirements & fit
- Lead experience in network technician, field service, smart-home installation, low-voltage work, or customer-facing technical support.
- Comfort reading install notes, diagnosing field conditions, and communicating clearly with customers.
- Licensing or manufacturer certifications may be requested depending on market and job scope.
- Reliable communication, schedule discipline, and a professional installation standard are expected.
