Problem Description

Your EZVIZ camera is not sending push notifications to your phone when motion is detected. The camera may be recording motion events to the SD card or cloud, but your phone does not receive any alerts. You only discover missed events when manually checking the playback timeline in the EZVIZ app.

Why This Happens in Real Homes

Missed EZVIZ alerts split into two layers, and it is worth knowing which one is failing. If the motion event is sitting in the app's timeline but your phone never buzzed, the camera detected fine and the breakdown is on the notification path, the in-app Alarm Notification toggle, the phone's OS permission, or, most often on Android, battery optimization quietly freezing the app so it cannot receive the push. If the event is not in the timeline at all, the camera never triggered: sensitivity too low, the wrong detection type selected, or a detection schedule that is dark during those hours. EZVIZ also has its own Notification Schedule, a do-not-disturb window per device, that people enable and forget. Work top down: confirm the event recorded, then the device notification toggle, then the phone's permission and battery settings, then Do Not Disturb on both the phone and inside EZVIZ. Pushes routing through EZVIZ's cloud can also lag a couple of minutes, which reads as late rather than missing.

Symptoms

  • No push alert on the phone when motion happens in view
  • Motion events show in the app timeline but no notification was pushed
  • Alerts worked until a phone or app update, then stopped
  • Some cameras notify while others on the same account do not
  • A notification sound plays but no EZVIZ banner appears
  • Alerts arrive hours late or bunched together
  • Only doorbell button presses notify, not motion
  • Notifications stop overnight or during set hours

Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.

Common Causes

  • Alarm Notification or message push toggle off for that camera in the app
  • Phone OS notification permission denied or set to silent for EZVIZ
  • Battery optimization or Doze killing the EZVIZ app in the background (Android especially)
  • Motion detection sensitivity set too low to trigger an alarm event
  • Detection or notification schedule set to hours that exclude the events
  • Phone Do Not Disturb or Focus mode suppressing the alert
  • In-app Notification Schedule (EZVIZ's own do-not-disturb window) enabled on the device
  • Too many phones signed into the account splitting or dropping pushes

Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.

Warning

On some Android phones, force-stopping the EZVIZ app will completely stop all notifications until you manually open the app again. Always use the app's own notification settings rather than force-stopping.

Step-by-Step Solution

1

Enable Motion Detection in Camera Settings

Open the EZVIZ app and go to the camera that is not sending alerts. Tap the settings gear icon, then select Detection Notification or Motion Detection. Make sure the main toggle for motion detection is turned on. Below that, verify that Push Notification or Message Alert is also enabled. Some EZVIZ cameras have separate toggles for detection and notification, both must be on. Also check that the detection sensitivity slider is set to at least medium.

2

Check Phone Notification Permissions

On iPhone, go to Settings, Notifications, find the EZVIZ app, and make sure Allow Notifications is enabled with Banners, Sounds, and Badges all toggled on. On Android, go to Settings, Apps, EZVIZ, Notifications, and enable all notification categories. Also check that the app is not set to deliver notifications silently. On Android, make sure the notification channel for Motion Alerts is set to Alerting, not Silent.

3

Disable Battery Optimization

Android phones aggressively kill background apps to save battery. Go to Settings, Battery, Battery Optimization, find the EZVIZ app, and set it to Not Optimized or Unrestricted. On Samsung phones, also go to Settings, Battery, Sleeping Apps, and remove EZVIZ from the sleeping list. On Xiaomi and MIUI devices, go to Settings, Apps, EZVIZ, Battery Saver, and select No Restrictions. iPhone does not have this issue as it handles background apps differently.

4

Configure Detection Schedule and Zones

In the camera settings within the EZVIZ app, check the Detection Schedule or Alarm Schedule. Make sure it covers the hours you need alerts, or set it to All Day for 24/7 monitoring. Also check the Motion Detection Area if your camera supports detection zones. Draw the zones over the areas where you want motion to trigger alerts, such as doorways, driveways, or entry points. Avoid including areas with constant movement like trees or busy roads.

5

Test Notifications

After configuring all settings, walk in front of the camera to trigger a motion event. Wait 15 to 30 seconds for the notification to arrive on your phone. If the notification does not appear, open the EZVIZ app and check the Message Center to see if the event was recorded. If the event appears in the Message Center but no push notification was received, the issue is with your phone notification settings. If no event appears at all, the motion detection on the camera is not triggering.

Quick Solutions

In the EZVIZ app open the camera > Notification and enable Alarm Notification / message push
Grant EZVIZ full notification permission in the phone's OS settings and allow sound and banners
Exempt EZVIZ from battery optimization and allow background/unrestricted activity
Raise Detection Sensitivity and confirm the detection type (PIR or human) matches what you want
Check the device's Notification Schedule and set it to cover the full day
Add EZVIZ to the phone's Do Not Disturb / Focus exceptions
Turn off the in-app Notification Schedule window if it is enabled
Sign out extra devices; note EZVIZ pushes can lag a few minutes to propagate

Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.

If the sensor still misses events after repositioning, check whether a scheduled 'home' or 'away' mode is overriding the sensitivity setting silently.

Pro Tip

If you receive too many false alerts from trees, pets, or shadows, adjust the detection sensitivity to a lower level or use detection zones to exclude areas with constant motion rather than disabling alerts entirely.

Real-World Insight

Notification delays over 2 minutes are almost never the device's fault — background app restrictions quietly re-enable themselves after every OS update.
