- WiFi network password changed since initial setup
- Router rebooted and assigned different channel
- Sync Module too far from router for stable signal
Problem Description
Your Blink Sync Module has gone offline and will not reconnect to your WiFi network. When the Sync Module is offline none of your Blink cameras can record motion events stream live view or send notifications. The module LED may show solid red or flashing blue indicating it has lost its WiFi connection and cannot communicate with Blink servers.
Symptoms
- Sync Module LED shows solid red or no light
- All Blink cameras show offline in app simultaneously
- Live view fails on every camera at once
- Blink app shows Sync Module disconnected error
- Module LED flashes blue endlessly without connecting
- USB drive in Sync Module stops receiving new clips
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- WiFi network password changed since initial setup
- Router rebooted and assigned different channel
- Sync Module too far from router for stable signal
- Power adapter loose or outlet lost power
- WiFi network congestion from too many devices
- Sync Module firmware update failed during download
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
If you have a USB drive in the Sync Module for local storage remove it before factory resetting to preserve your locally stored clips. Reinserting it after setup restores local recording.
Tools & Requirements
Step-by-Step Solution
Power Cycle the Sync Module
Unplug the Sync Module USB power cable from the power adapter. Wait 15 seconds then plug it back in. Wait 2 minutes for the module to fully boot. The LED should eventually show solid green or solid blue indicating it has reconnected to WiFi. A simple power cycle resolves most temporary disconnection issues caused by software glitches or memory issues in the module.
Check WiFi Network Status
Verify your WiFi network is working by connecting your phone to the same network and loading a website. If your router was recently reset or your WiFi password changed the Sync Module will need to be reconfigured with the new network credentials through the Blink app. The Sync Module only works with 2.4GHz WiFi networks so make sure that band is active and broadcasting on your router.
Move Sync Module Closer to Router
WiFi signal weakens through walls and distance. If the Sync Module is more than 30 feet from the router or separated by multiple walls it may not maintain a stable connection. Move the module to a more central location or add a WiFi extender between the router and the Sync Module location. The module needs consistent signal strength to maintain connections with both the Blink cloud and all your cameras.
Reconfigure WiFi in Blink App
If your WiFi password changed open the Blink app and navigate to Sync Module settings. Select Change WiFi Network and follow the prompts. You will need to press the reset button on the Sync Module briefly until the LED blinks blue then use the app to connect it to your updated WiFi network. This process preserves all your camera pairings and settings while updating the network credentials.
Factory Reset as Last Resort
If nothing else works use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button on the side of the Sync Module for 15 seconds until the LED turns off. Then release and wait for the LED to flash blue. Open the Blink app and add the Sync Module as a new device following the on-screen setup. You will need to re-add all cameras to the new Sync Module which means re-pairing each camera individually through the app.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
This usually happens right after a router reboot or ISP change — the device rejoins the network but drops its cloud session silently.
Place the Sync Module in a central location between your router and cameras. It acts as a bridge between your WiFi network and the cameras so central placement optimizes both connections.
Pairing failures almost always come down to distance during the initial handshake — manufacturers seriously understate how close you actually need to be.

Before you go — try one of these (they fix most cases).
