- iAquaLink module lost WiFi
- RS-485 wiring fault to the AquaLink RS panel
- Module needs a power cycle
Problem Description
The Jandy iAquaLink app shows your pool system as "Offline" even though the AquaLink RS control panel at the equipment pad is working normally and controlling the pool equipment locally. The iAquaLink device (a small WiFi module that connects to the AquaLink RS panel) bridges your pool controller to the internet for remote app control. When the app shows Offline, the iAquaLink module has either lost its WiFi connection, lost its connection to Jandy's cloud server, or the RS-485 serial link between the iAquaLink and the AquaLink RS panel has dropped.
Why This Happens in Real Homes
An offline iAquaLink is usually the module's WiFi connection, an RS-485 wiring fault to the panel, or a server hiccup, not the equipment. In real installs the module LEDs tell you whether it is a WiFi drop or a panel-comms fault.
Check the LEDs, power-cycle the module, and reconnect WiFi before suspecting the AquaLink panel.
Symptoms
- iAquaLink app shows the system offline
- Cannot control the pool remotely
- Module LEDs abnormal
- App times out connecting
- Lost connection after a router change
- Commands not reaching the panel
- Intermittent offline
- Whole system unresponsive in the app
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- iAquaLink module lost WiFi
- RS-485 wiring fault to the AquaLink RS panel
- Module needs a power cycle
- Outdated module firmware
- Router or credentials changed
- Weak WiFi at the module
- Jandy server outage
- IoT-unfriendly router settings
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
Step-by-Step Solution
Check the iAquaLink Module LEDs
Open the AquaLink RS equipment panel (the metal enclosure at the pool equipment pad). The iAquaLink module is a small circuit board mounted inside the panel, usually on the left door or on a DIN rail. It has three LEDs: Power (green), WiFi (blue), and Cloud (amber). Power should be solid green. WiFi should be solid blue when connected to your router. Cloud should be solid amber when connected to Jandy's server. If WiFi is blinking, it's searching for your network. If Cloud is off, the module can't reach the internet.
Reconnect iAquaLink to WiFi
If the WiFi LED is blinking, the module lost your network — this happens after a router reboot, password change, or power outage. On the iAquaLink module, press the small recessed WPS button (on the edge of the board, labeled WPS) and simultaneously press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes. If your router doesn't support WPS, use the AquaLink RS panel: navigate to Menu > System Setup > iAquaLink > WiFi Setup. The panel displays available networks. Select yours and enter the password using the panel's arrow and select buttons. The iAquaLink only connects to 2.4GHz networks.
Verify RS-485 Wiring to the AquaLink RS Panel
The iAquaLink communicates with the AquaLink RS main board through RS-485 serial. On the AquaLink RS board, locate the AUX serial port — a 4-pin header near the top of the board labeled J7 or AUX. The cable from the iAquaLink plugs into this header. Check that the 4-pin connector is fully seated. If you pull it off and re-seat it, align the keying notch. A half-inserted connector causes intermittent disconnects where the app works for a few hours then goes offline.
Power Cycle the iAquaLink Module
The iAquaLink draws power from the AquaLink RS panel's 15VDC supply. To restart just the iAquaLink without affecting the pool equipment, unplug the small 2-pin power connector from the iAquaLink board. Wait 30 seconds and reconnect it. The module takes 90 seconds to boot, connect to WiFi, and establish a cloud connection. Watch the three LEDs — they should go Power (solid), WiFi (blink then solid), Cloud (blink then solid) in sequence. If Cloud never goes solid, check your internet connection.
Update iAquaLink Firmware
On the AquaLink RS panel, go to Menu > System Setup > iAquaLink > Firmware Info. The display shows the current firmware version. Compare this to the latest version listed on Jandy's support page. If an update is available, go to Menu > System Setup > iAquaLink > Update Firmware. The module downloads the update from Jandy's server and installs it — this takes 5-10 minutes. The module reboots after the update. Do not power off the panel during the update or the module can be bricked.
Check Jandy Server Status
If the iAquaLink module shows solid WiFi but no Cloud connection, Jandy's cloud server may be down for maintenance. Check iaqualink.com — if the web portal is also down, the issue is server-side. Jandy occasionally performs maintenance on Tuesday nights (10 PM - 2 AM ET). During server outages, your pool equipment continues running on its local schedule through the AquaLink RS panel — you just can't control it remotely through the app. The system reconnects automatically when the server comes back.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
This usually happens right after a router reboot or ISP change — the device rejoins the network but drops its cloud session silently.
The iAquaLink installation and user guide is at https://www.jandy.com/en/support/manuals — search for "iAquaLink" or your AquaLink RS panel model number. The iAquaLink device connects to the AquaLink RS panel via RS-485 (two wires on the COM terminal strip). The LED on the iAquaLink device shows connection status: solid green = connected to cloud, flashing green = connecting, solid red = no internet, flashing red = no RS-485 communication with the panel. If WPS pairing fails, you can manually configure WiFi by connecting to the iAquaLink's setup hotspot (SSID starts with "iAquaLink-") from your phone and entering credentials at 192.168.0.1.
Most WiFi drop-offs happen right after a router reboot or ISP swap — the device reconnects to the network but silently loses its cloud registration.
- iAquaLink module lost WiFi
- RS-485 wiring fault to the AquaLink RS panel
- Module needs a power cycle
- Outdated module firmware
- Router or credentials changed
Before you go — try one of these (they fix most cases).
