Why Won't My Blink Camera Add to the Sync Module?

Your Blink camera won't add to the Sync Module - the QR code won't scan, the camera never beeps, or the app times out. This is usually the Sync Module being offline, the system still armed, dead batteries, or the QR scan itself.

Adding a Blink camera hinges on a chain that has to be right in order: the Sync Module online, the system disarmed, and the camera awake with good batteries. If any link is off, the QR scan fails or the camera never beeps, and people assume the camera is broken. The Sync Module's front LEDs tell you the first thing to check - solid green and solid blue mean it's ready.

Disarm the system, fit fresh AA lithium batteries, and when the QR appears, hold the phone steady at full brightness about 5 to 8 inches from the lens until the camera beeps. Get the Sync Module Online First

A camera can only be added when the Sync Module is online. Check the Sync Module's front LEDs - a solid green and solid blue light mean it's connected. If it's showing red or blinking, fix the Sync Module's connection before trying to add any camera.

Disarm the System

Blink requires the system to be disarmed to add a camera. In the app, disarm the system, then start Add Device. Trying to add a camera while the system is armed is a common reason the flow won't proceed.

Fit Fresh AA Lithium Batteries

A camera with weak batteries can't complete setup or beep to confirm the scan. Open the battery compartment behind the back cover and fit two fresh AA 1.5V lithium batteries the correct way round before adding it.

Scan the QR Correctly

When the app shows the QR code on your phone, raise your screen brightness fully and hold the phone flat and steady about 5 to 8 inches in front of the camera lens. The camera beeps when it reads the code. Too close, too far, or a dim screen all stop the scan.

Add It Near the Sync Module

Do the pairing with the camera close to the Sync Module so it joins with a strong signal, then move it to its final spot. A camera at the far edge of the house often scans the QR but times out completing the link.

Reset a Camera From Another System

A camera still linked to another Blink account or Sync Module won't join a new one. Remove it from the old system in that account first, or if you can't, contact Blink to release it, then add it fresh.

Confirm the Sync Module Is on 2.4GHz

The Sync Module only works on 2.4GHz WiFi and won't respond on 5GHz. If your router band-steers, split the bands and put the Sync Module on the 2.4GHz network so it stays online through the add process.

Enter the Serial Manually if Needed

If the QR simply won't scan, most Blink setup flows let you enter the device's serial number by hand instead. Use that fallback, and if a fresh-battery camera near an online Sync Module still won't add by any method, contact Blink support.
