Set up a voice PIN for unlocking

For security, Alexa requires a 4-digit voice PIN before it will unlock your August lock. In the Alexa app, go to Devices, select your August lock, and set up the voice PIN. Fix Alexa saying it cannot find the lock

If Alexa says "I could not find a device named front door," check that the August skill is still linked — go to Alexa app > Skills & Games > Your Skills > August Home and verify it is enabled. If it is, say "Alexa, discover my devices" to refresh the device list. Also check the lock name in the Alexa app — if you renamed it to something different, use the new name in your voice command. If the skill is linked but discovery fails, unlink and relink the August skill.

Fix Alexa commands timing out

If Alexa says "the device is not responding" when you try to lock or unlock, the August lock has lost its internet connection.
