Installation Steps

1

Set Up the Base Station

Download the Ring app and create an account. In the app, select 'Set Up a Device', then 'Security', and 'Base Station'. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the Base Station to your internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and plug it into a power outlet to begin.

2

Add Components in the App

Once the Base Station is online, use the Ring app to add your other components. Select 'Set Up a Device' for each one: Keypad, Contact Sensor, Motion Detector, and Range Extender. The app will guide you through pulling the battery tabs and pairing each device.

3

Customize Device Settings

After pairing each device, the Ring app will prompt you to customize its settings. Assign a specific name (e.g., 'Front Door Sensor') and a room to each component. This helps you easily identify which sensor is triggered when you receive an alert on your phone.

4

Physically Install Sensors

With all devices paired and configured, physically install them in their designated locations. Use the included mounting tape or screws to affix Contact Sensors to doors and windows, and place Motion Detectors in corners of rooms for the widest coverage area.

Installation Tips

Place Range Extender halfway for best signal
Keep Contact Sensor magnets within 1 inch
Mount Motion Detectors at 7.5 feet high
Avoid pointing sensors at heat sources
The alarm siren is very loud (104 dB)
Keep small parts away from children

Still stuck? This is usually the deeper cause below.

Pro Tip

Take the Keypad with you as you install sensors to test each one immediately after installation.
