- Outlet lost power
- WiFi password changed
- Router reset or replaced
Problem Description
Ring error P1-70 means your Chime or Chime Pro has gone offline and wont sound when someone rings your doorbell.
Why This Happens in Real Homes
P1-70 means the Chime or Chime Pro lost its WiFi connection. Since the Chime plugs into a wall outlet and has no battery, this is purely a WiFi issue. The most common cause is a router reboot or WiFi password change. Unplug the Chime for 10 seconds, plug it back in, and let it reconnect. If it does not reconnect automatically, set it up again through the Ring app. If it keeps going offline repeatedly, the Chime is probably too far from the router or sitting in a dead spot. Move it to a different outlet closer to the router. Do not plug it into an outlet behind furniture — WiFi signal drops significantly behind a couch or bookshelf.

Factory Reset
Hold side button 15-20 seconds until rapid flash. Wait for spinning blue. Set up as new device.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
This usually happens right after a router reboot or ISP change — the device rejoins the network but drops its cloud session silently.
Chime Pro doubles as WiFi extender. Place halfway between router and Ring doorbell for best results.
Most WiFi drop-offs happen right after a router reboot or ISP swap — the device reconnects to the network but silently loses its cloud registration.
