- Motion detection sensitivity set too low for the distance
- Detection zone not covering the actual area of movement
- Cam Plus subscription expired disabling cloud event recording
Problem Description
Your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro is missing motion events and not recording when people or vehicles move through the detection zone. The floodlights may or may not activate but the camera fails to capture clips or send notifications for obvious motion.
Symptoms
- People walk through frame but no event is recorded
- Floodlights turn on but camera does not record a clip
- Motion notifications stopped arriving on phone
- Events tab shows far fewer recordings than expected
- Camera records some events but misses most motion
- Detection zone appears to cover the area but still misses
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- Motion detection sensitivity set too low for the distance
- Detection zone not covering the actual area of movement
- Cam Plus subscription expired disabling cloud event recording
- Cooldown period between events set too long missing activity
- Motion tagging set to person only but vehicle events needed
- MicroSD card full preventing local continuous recording
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
Do not set sensitivity to 100 percent in areas with trees or moving foliage. This will generate hundreds of false motion events per day filling your event timeline and making it impossible to find real events.

Step-by-Step Solution
Adjust Motion Sensitivity
In the Wyze app tap your Floodlight Pro then Settings then Detection Settings. Increase sensitivity to at least 75 for outdoor use. The default sensitivity may be too low for detecting motion at distances beyond 20 feet. Higher sensitivity detects smaller or more distant motion. Test by walking through the detection zone at the farthest point you want coverage.
Reconfigure Detection Zone
Go to Detection Settings then Detection Zone. Enable the zone and draw a rectangle covering exactly where you want motion detected. Exclude areas with constant movement like trees or a busy road that would cause false triggers. If the zone does not cover the walking path or driveway the camera will ignore motion in uncovered areas even if sensitivity is high.
Check Cam Plus Subscription
Without Cam Plus the Wyze Cam has a 5-minute cooldown between events meaning it can only record once every 5 minutes. Go to Account then Services in the Wyze app. Verify Cam Plus is active on this camera. With Cam Plus there is no cooldown and events include person and vehicle AI detection. If expired cloud event recording stops but local SD recording continues.
Enable All Detection Types
In Detection Settings check which AI detection types are enabled. If only Person is checked you will miss vehicles packages and pets. Enable all relevant types for your use case. Also ensure Push Notifications are enabled for each detection type. A common mistake is having detection working but notifications turned off so events record but you never get alerted.
Check MicroSD Card
If you rely on local continuous recording check the microSD card. In the Wyze app go to camera Settings then Advanced Settings then Local Storage. If the card is full and loop recording is disabled new events cannot be saved. Format the card from within the app or enable loop recording which overwrites the oldest footage automatically. Use a high endurance card rated for continuous writing.

Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
If the sensor still misses events after repositioning, check whether a scheduled 'home' or 'away' mode is overriding the sensitivity setting silently.
Set up a motion schedule to increase sensitivity during nighttime hours when most security events occur. You can lower sensitivity during daytime to reduce false triggers from shadows and animals.
Missed motion events are almost always a zone coverage problem, not hardware failure — zone placement accounts for 90% of these complaints.
