- Blind battery pack is depleted and needs USB-C recharging
- Remote battery is dead and needs CR2032 coin cell replacement
- Zigbee connection lost between blinds and DIRIGERA hub
Problem Description
Your IKEA smart motorized blinds have stopped responding to the wireless remote control, the IKEA Home Smart app, or voice commands through Alexa, Google Home, or HomeKit. The blinds may be stuck in one position, move partially, or not react at all when you press the up/down buttons on the remote.
Symptoms
- Pressing remote buttons produces no response from the blinds
- IKEA Home Smart app shows blinds as offline or unreachable
- Blinds move partway then stop before reaching full open or close
- Voice commands through Alexa or Google Home fail to control blinds
- Blinds make a buzzing sound but do not move the fabric
- Remote LED flashes when pressed but blinds do not react
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- Blind battery pack is depleted and needs USB-C recharging
- Remote battery is dead and needs CR2032 coin cell replacement
- Zigbee connection lost between blinds and DIRIGERA hub
- Blinds motor limits need recalibration after fabric adjustment
- Remote was unpaired from the blinds after hub reset or update
- Physical obstruction preventing the blind roller from turning
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
Do not pull the blind fabric manually while the motor is engaged. This can strip the internal gears and permanently damage the motor mechanism. Always use the remote or app to move the blinds.

Step-by-Step Solution
Check and Charge the Blind Battery
The FYRTUR and KADRILJ blinds use a rechargeable battery pack located inside the bottom rail of the blind. Carefully detach the battery pack by sliding it out from one end. Connect the USB-C cable to charge it. The LED indicator on the battery shows red while charging and green when fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 4 to 6 hours and provides around 6 months of typical use. Low battery is the number one cause of unresponsive smart blinds.

Flip the FYRTUR remote control over and open the battery compartment. Replace the CR2032 coin cell battery with a fresh one, ensuring the positive side faces up. After inserting the new battery, press any button on the remote to test. The small LED on the remote should blink briefly when a button is pressed. If the LED does not blink with a fresh battery, the remote itself may be faulty.
Re-pair Blinds to Hub
If the blinds have a charged battery but still do not respond through the app, they may have lost their Zigbee pairing. Open the IKEA Home Smart app and try to remove the blind from your device list. Then locate the small reset pinhole button on the blind motor housing. Press it with a paperclip for 5 seconds to put the blind into pairing mode. In the app, tap add device and select blinds to start the pairing scan.
Recalibrate Blind Travel Limits
If the blinds move but stop at the wrong positions or move only partway, the travel limits need recalibration. Use the remote or app to fully open the blind. Then press and hold both the up and down buttons on the remote simultaneously for 5 seconds until the blind makes a small jolt movement. Now use the up and down buttons to set the fully open and fully closed positions. This recalibrates the motor endpoints.
Re-pair Remote to Blinds
If the remote lost its pairing to the blinds, hold the remote within 2 inches of the blind motor housing. Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly. The blind should make a small movement to confirm the pairing was successful. Test up and down control with the remote before moving it to its wall-mounted position.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
If this comes back after following these steps, check whether a recent app or firmware update reset a default setting — the fix works, but the setting gets reverted silently.
Set a reminder to recharge your FYRTUR blind batteries every 4 to 5 months to prevent unexpected failures. The IKEA Home Smart app does not currently provide battery level warnings.
Battery-related failures are almost always flagged too late — the device degrades silently for days before the app catches up to what's actually happening.
