Your LawnMaster L10 or L12 robot mower is leaving patches of uncut or unevenly cut grass. The L-Series mows in a random pattern — it drives in a straight line until it hits the boundary wire or an obstacle, then turns at a random angle and continues. Over multiple sessions, the random pattern eventually covers the entire lawn. But if the mowing time is too short, the blade height is wrong, or the blades are dull, you will see visible stripes of long grass between mowed areas. Narrow passages and tight corners are especially prone to being missed.

Missed patches are the number one complaint from new L-Series owners, and in most cases the fix is simply running the mower for longer each day. Set the schedule via the onboard panel — you can program start and stop times for each day of the week. If you are only running it for 2 hours a day, missed patches are expected. Increase to 6 hours and reassess after three days.
Fix corner coverage
Tight corners in the boundary wire layout create dead zones. If the wire makes a 90-degree angle, the mower approaches the corner, detects the wire on two sides, and turns away without reaching the actual corner. Fix this by rounding the corner — pull the wire peg out of the corner point and reposition it to create a smooth curve with at least a 50 cm radius. The mower can then follow the curve into the corner area. For very tight corners, accept that the mower cannot reach them and trim manually, or use a filler plant to eliminate the grass corner entirely.
Widen narrow passages
The L10 and L12 need at least 1 metre — ideally 1.5 metres — between boundary wires to reliably enter a narrow passage. If you have a passage between two garden beds that is less than 1 metre, the mower detects wire on both sides simultaneously and turns back rather than entering. Measure the actual distance between the wires (not the bed edges — the wires may be set further in). If the passage is too narrow to widen, either move the beds or accept that this passage needs manual mowing.
Monitor for three days
After making blade, height, and schedule changes, give the random mowing pattern three full days to show results. On day one, you will still see the old missed patches. By day two, the random pattern will have found most of them. By day three, the coverage should be even. If specific patches persist after three days, they are structural issues — either the mower physically cannot reach them (passage too narrow, corner too tight) or the wire layout is creating a zone the mower rarely enters. Adjust the wire layout to encourage more traffic through those areas.
