- Phone Bluetooth is disabled or location services are turned off
- Navimow app is missing Bluetooth or nearby devices permissions
- Mower is out of Bluetooth range or behind a wall blocking the signal
Problem Description
Your Segway Navimow robot mower is not connecting to the Navimow app. The app cannot discover the mower during initial setup, shows it as offline, or drops the Bluetooth connection repeatedly. The Navimow uses Bluetooth for close-range pairing and control, WiFi for remote management, and 4G LTE on H Series models for cellular connectivity. Without app access, you cannot map boundaries, start mowing, adjust schedules, or receive alerts.
Why This Happens in Real Homes
The majority of Navimow pairing failures are phone permission issues — Location Services and Bluetooth permissions denied on the phone. Users often skip permission prompts during app install and then wonder why the app cannot find the mower. Re-enabling permissions and restarting the app fixes most cases immediately. For ongoing WiFi drops, the dock is usually at the far edge of WiFi range. A mesh extender near the dock area solves this permanently. Used mower account binding is a growing issue as these mowers enter the resale market.
Symptoms
- Navimow app cannot find the mower during Bluetooth scanning
- App shows the mower as offline even though the power LED is on
- Bluetooth pairs successfully but the connection drops within seconds
- WiFi setup screen fails with incorrect password or network not found errors
- App was working yesterday but now shows disconnected with no changes made
- Mower responds to physical buttons but not to app commands
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- Phone Bluetooth is disabled or location services are turned off
- Navimow app is missing Bluetooth or nearby devices permissions
- Mower is out of Bluetooth range or behind a wall blocking the signal
- Previous owner account is still bound to the mower preventing new pairing
- WiFi network is 5GHz only and the Navimow requires 2.4GHz
- App version and mower firmware have a protocol version mismatch
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
If you bought a used Navimow, the previous owner must unbind their account before you can pair it to yours. Factory resetting the network does not remove the account binding. Contact Segway support with proof of purchase to request an unbind. Without this, the mower will pair via Bluetooth but refuse to complete cloud registration, blocking WiFi setup and remote features.
Step-by-Step Solution
Enable phone Bluetooth and location services
Go to your phone settings and verify Bluetooth is turned on. Then check that Location Services are enabled globally. On Android, also enable Nearby Devices or Nearby Share permission in the quick settings. Both Android and iOS require location services to be active for Bluetooth Low Energy device scanning — this is a phone operating system requirement. If either is off, the Navimow app physically cannot detect the mower even if it is powered on right next to you.
Check Navimow app permissions
In your phone settings, find the Navimow app and review its permissions. It needs Bluetooth, Location (While Using at minimum), and Local Network access. On Android 12 and newer, it needs Nearby Devices permission separately. If you previously denied any permission, the app may have stopped asking and will silently fail. Toggle each required permission on, then force-quit the app completely and relaunch it.
Power cycle the mower and try pairing at close range
Hold the power button on the top control panel of the Navimow (the large circular button with the power icon) until it shuts off. Wait 15 seconds and power it on again. Wait for the LED to indicate it is ready for pairing — usually a blinking blue light. Stand within 2 meters of the mower with your phone. Open the app and start the device discovery process. Bluetooth range on the Navimow is limited, especially if there is a wall, fence, or vehicle between your phone and the mower.
Reset the mower network settings if needed
If the mower was previously paired to another phone or account, it may refuse new connections. On the mower, look for a reset button or press-and-hold combination that clears network and pairing data — check the quick start guide for your specific model. On i Series models, holding the power and Bluetooth buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds typically initiates a network reset. After reset, the mower enters fresh pairing mode and should be discoverable.
Set up WiFi on a 2.4GHz network
After Bluetooth pairs, the app walks you through WiFi setup. The Navimow only connects to 2.4GHz WiFi — it will not see 5GHz networks. If your router uses a combined SSID with band steering, temporarily create a separate 2.4GHz-only SSID for the initial setup. Enter the password carefully — the mower cannot display errors clearly if the password is wrong, it just fails silently. After WiFi connects, you can manage the mower remotely via the Navimow cloud.
Update app and firmware
Check the App Store or Google Play for Navimow app updates. Once connected, also check for mower firmware updates in the app under Settings then About then Firmware. Version mismatches between the app and firmware cause connection instability — the communication protocol changes between major versions. Update both to the latest release. After updating, restart the mower and the app. The H Series with 4G should also check for modem firmware updates in the cellular settings.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
This usually happens right after a router reboot or ISP change — the device rejoins the network but drops its cloud session silently.
Once paired, the Navimow stays connected via WiFi when docked and in range of your router. Bluetooth is mainly used for initial setup and close-range control. If you lose remote access while the mower is docked, the issue is almost always WiFi, not Bluetooth. Check that your router is online and the 2.4GHz band is active. H Series owners with 4G can enable cellular as a WiFi fallback in the app settings. Most WiFi drop-offs happen right after a router reboot or ISP swap — the device reconnects to the network but silently loses its cloud registration.
