- Pro monitoring service blocking competing alerts
- Notification priorities set for professional only
- Smart home integration disabled
Problem Description
Your SimpliSafe professional monitoring service is overriding or suppressing smart home device notifications, causing you to miss alerts from connected devices like water sensors, smoke detectors, or door sensors that are not part of the SimpliSafe system. SimpliSafe's notification system is designed around its own sensor ecosystem — third-party smart home alerts are managed separately.
Symptoms
- Smart home security alerts not received
- Only SimpliSafe notifications come through
- Smart cameras not sending motion alerts
- DIY security notifications blocked
- Smart home app notifications disabled
- Professional monitoring overriding smart alerts

Step-by-Step Solution
Separate SimpliSafe and Smart Home Notification Channels
SimpliSafe notifications are managed entirely within the SimpliSafe app. Third-party smart home device notifications — from Wyze, Nest, or Ring — go through their own apps independently. If you are missing smart home alerts, open each device's native app and verify notifications are enabled there, not in SimpliSafe. SimpliSafe cannot suppress alerts from apps it has no integration with.
Check Phone Do Not Disturb and Notification Priority
Professional monitoring calls and alerts from SimpliSafe are often configured as high-priority notifications that can bypass Do Not Disturb mode. In your phone settings check whether other apps are being suppressed by DND while SimpliSafe is exempted. Either add your smart home device apps to the DND exemption list, or adjust your DND rules to allow all alerts during hours when you need coverage from both systems.
Configure SimpliSafe Smart Home Integration Settings
If you have integrated SimpliSafe with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Apple Home, check whether the integration's notification routing is creating a conflict. In the SimpliSafe app under Settings then Smart Home check whether any rules forward SimpliSafe events to your smart home platform in a way that could suppress reverse notifications. Disable integration-level notification rules and test each system's alerts independently.
Enable App Notifications for Each Smart Home Device App
On iPhone go to Settings then Notifications and verify each smart home app has Allow Notifications enabled with Alerts and Sounds turned on. On Android go to Settings then Apps and check notification settings for each app individually. Both iOS and Android can silently disable notifications for apps that are rarely opened or that have been recently updated. Restore notification permissions for each affected app.
Test Both Notification Systems Independently
Trigger a test notification from SimpliSafe through the app's test mode. Then trigger a test alert from your smart home device — open a door sensor, trigger motion, or test a water sensor. Confirm both notifications reach your phone. If one arrives and the other does not, the problem is in that specific app's notification configuration rather than a conflict between the two systems.

Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
Notification delays almost always return after a major iOS or Android update — background app refresh gets reset to restricted on every major OS version.
Professional security monitoring may take priority over DIY smart home alerts for liability and emergency response reasons.
Notification delays over 2 minutes are almost never the device's fault — background app restrictions quietly re-enable themselves after every OS update.
