Step-by-Step Solution
Add Arlo Integration
Open the SmartThings app on your phone. Tap the plus icon, then select Device. Tap By brand and search for Arlo. Select Arlo from the results. Tap Add to continue. SmartThings will redirect you to the Arlo login page.
Link Your Arlo Account
Enter your Arlo account email and password. If you use two-factor authentication, enter the verification code. After successful login, tap Authorize to allow SmartThings to access your Arlo cameras.
Select Cameras to Add
After linking, SmartThings will show all cameras from your Arlo account. Select which cameras you want to add by tapping on each one. For each camera, assign it to a room in your SmartThings home. Tap Done when finished.
Create Automations
Tap the Automations tab in SmartThings. Tap the plus icon to create a new automation. For the IF condition, choose Arlo camera motion detection or any SmartThings sensor. For the THEN action, select what happens such as turning on lights.
Test Your Setup
Walk in front of your Arlo camera to trigger motion detection and verify that your automation runs. Check the SmartThings History tab to see a log of recent automation triggers.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
If this comes back after following these steps, check whether a recent app or firmware update reset a default setting — the fix works, but the setting gets reverted silently.
Use SmartThings Scenes to arm your Arlo cameras automatically when you leave home - combine with SmartThings presence detection.
