Installation Steps

1

Connect Hub to Router

Connect the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station to an available Ethernet port on your home router using the provided Ethernet cable. This wired connection is required for the hub to communicate with your network and the internet. Ensure the connection is secure.

2

Power On the Hub

Plug the SmartHub's power adapter into a nearby wall outlet and connect it to the hub. The hub will power on, and the LED light on the front will cycle through different colors as it boots up. Wait for the LED to turn solid blue, indicating it's connected.

3

Add Hub in Arlo App

Open the Arlo Secure app on your smartphone. Tap 'Add New Device' and select 'Base Station/Hub'. The app will search for the hub on your local network. Once detected, follow the on-screen instructions to add it to your Arlo account.

4

Sync Your Cameras

After the SmartHub is set up and online, you can begin syncing your Arlo cameras to it. Follow the in-app instructions for adding a new camera, ensuring you select the option to sync it to your new SmartHub instead of directly to your Wi-Fi network.

Installation Tips

Ensure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network
Disable any VPN on your phone or router
Try using a web browser if app fails
A solid blue light means it is connected
A factory reset may resolve setup issues
Keep multiple hubs at least a few feet apart

Still stuck? This is usually the deeper cause below.

Pro Tip

The SmartHub must be connected via Ethernet cable. It does not support Wi-Fi connection to your router.
