Installation Steps

1

Place the Clean Base Station and Home Base

Place the Clean Base against a wall with at least 1.5 feet of clearance on each side and 4 feet of open floor space in front. Keep it away from stairs and obstacles. The Clean Base requires a standard wall outlet and should remain plugged in continuously so the i7+ can dock and empty itself automatically. Place the dock on a hard, flat floor — not on carpet — so the Roomba can dock reliably after each cleaning session.

2

Download the iRobot Home App and Connect the i7+

Install the iRobot Home app and create an account. Tap Add a Robot and select Roomba i7+. The app will guide you through connecting your phone to the i7+'s temporary WiFi network, entering your home WiFi password, and transferring it to the robot. After successful connection, the robot will appear in your app with battery status and a prompt to start the first mapping run. Ensure your home WiFi is 2.4GHz — the i7+ does not support 5GHz.

3

Prepare Your Home for the First Mapping Run

Before the first run, pick up loose cables, small rugs, and any items that could tangle the robot's brushes or cause it to get stuck. Close off any rooms you do not want mapped by closing doors or placing the Clean Base in the first room you want cleaned. Leave interior doors open in rooms you want included in the map. The first mapping run determines the home layout that all future smart scheduling is based on.

4

Complete the First Mapping Run

Tap Clean in the app to start the first mapping run. The i7+ will navigate systematically through your home, building a map as it cleans. This run may take longer than future cleaning sessions. Do not pick up or move the robot during this run. If the battery runs low the i7+ will return to the dock, recharge, and resume. After the run completes, open the app and review the generated map — room divisions may need to be adjusted in the Imprint Smart Mapping editor.

5

Label Rooms and Set Cleaning Schedules

In the iRobot app, go to Maps and tap the completed floor plan. Label each room by tapping within it and assigning a name — Kitchen, Living Room, Bedroom. Create keep-out zones by drawing virtual barriers around areas you do not want the robot to enter. Once rooms are labeled, go to Schedule and create room-specific cleaning schedules — for example, clean the kitchen and living room daily and bedrooms weekly. Test voice control by connecting to Alexa or Google Home through the iRobot app settings.
