Clean Camera Lens
For Roomba i, j, and s series, locate the camera on top of the robot. Wipe the lens with a clean dry microfiber cloth. A dirty camera cannot see landmarks for navigation.

Roomba needs ambient light to navigate. Do not run in pitch darkness. Keep blinds open or lights on. Sudden light changes during cleaning can cause Error 17.
Clean Floor Sensor
Turn Roomba over and locate the round Floor Tracking Sensor near the front. Wipe with a soft cotton cloth. This sensor tracks movement and helps with mapping.
