Installation Steps
Remove Old Lock and Install Latch
Remove your existing deadbolt completely from your door. Install the new Kwikset adjustable latch, making sure it is set to the correct backset for your door (2-3/8 inches or 2-3/4 inches) and that the 'TOP' indicator is facing up. Install the new strike plate on the door frame.
Install Exterior and Interior Assemblies
Install the exterior keypad, routing the cable underneath the latch. From the inside, attach the mounting plate, connect the cable, and then secure the interior assembly. This process sandwiches the lock onto the door, holding it firmly in place.
Insert Batteries and Handle Handing
Insert the 4 AA batteries into the battery pack and slide it into the interior assembly. The lock will then perform an automatic door handing process, where it learns whether your door is left-handed or right-handed. Do not touch the lock during this process.
Set Up in the Kwikset App
Download the Kwikset app and create an account. Tap to add a new lock and follow the instructions to pair your phone with the lock via Bluetooth and then connect the lock to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for remote access and user management.
