This guide covers the installation of the Lutron Aurora Smart Bulb Dimmer, a Z-Wave rotary dial that snaps over a standard toggle switch to control Hue and other smart bulbs without replacing the switch. The Aurora requires a Hue Bridge or Lutron Smart Bridge and allows physical dimmer control of smart bulbs without cutting off their power.

The Lutron Aurora solves one specific problem: it locks your wall toggle switch permanently ON and gives you a dimmer knob, so nobody flips the switch and cuts power to your smart bulbs. It's a Zigbee device that pairs to the Philips Hue Bridge (not Caseta, not WiFi) and fits over a standard single-pole toggle switch — not paddle/Decora or 3-way.
