- Dustbin full or overfilled
- Filter clogged with fine dust
- Clump jammed in the airflow inlet
Problem Description
Your Dreame robot vacuum has weak suction or keeps reporting the dustbin is full even after emptying. The airflow path between the main brush and the bin is choked - a clogged filter, a packed bin, or a blockage in the inlet.
Why This Happens in Real Homes
Weak suction and repeated full-bin errors almost always come down to a choked airflow path rather than a dead motor. A filter caked with fine dust, a bin packed solid, or a clump jammed in the inlet between the main brush and the bin all starve the fan. On auto-empty Ultra models, the onboard bin still fills between station cycles and a clogged station tube backs up into the robot.
Work from the bin outward: empty it, clean or replace the filter, and clear both the bin inlet and the main brush inlet where hair packs in. Make sure any rinsed filter is bone dry before refitting, and reseat the filter and bin until they click. If suction stays weak with an empty bin, a clean dry filter, and a clear path, the fan or a bin seal is failing and needs Dreame service.
Symptoms
- Weak or no suction from the robot
- Dreamehome app says the dustbin is full
- Full-bin error even after emptying
- Debris left behind after a run
- Robot stops mid-clean
- Whistling or straining fan sound
- Filter looks grey and caked
- Bin fills unusually slowly
Recognize these? Here's what usually causes it.
Common Causes
- Dustbin full or overfilled
- Filter clogged with fine dust
- Clump jammed in the airflow inlet
- Wet filter choking airflow
- Filter seated incorrectly
- Bin not clicked in fully
- Hair packed around the main brush inlet
- Auto-empty station tube clogged (Ultra models)
Most fixes happen in the first 3 steps.
If suction stays weak with an empty bin, clean dry filter, and clear airflow path, the fan or a bin seal may be failing - contact Dreame.

Step-by-Step Solution
Empty the Dustbin
Pull the dustbin out of the robot (from the top under the lid, or the rear depending on model) and empty it fully. A full bin chokes airflow first, so start here even if you emptied it recently. On Ultra models with an auto-empty station, the onboard bin can still clog between emptyings.
Clean the Filter
Open the dustbin and lift out the filter. If it's grey and caked, tap it against the trash. Dreame filters can be rinsed on most models - rinse under water, shake out, and air-dry fully for 24 hours before refitting, or fit a dry spare.

$54.99Dry a Wet Filter
A damp filter chokes airflow and reads as a blockage. Never run the robot with a wet filter - if it got splashed at the wash station, let it dry completely or swap in a dry one.
Clear the Airflow Inlet
Look into the bin's inlet mouth and the channel that runs from the main brush up to the bin. Pull out any clump of hair or felt lodged there with tweezers so air can flow freely.

Clear the Main Brush Inlet
Flip the robot over and check the mouth just behind the main brush where debris enters. Hair packed across this inlet backs airflow up into a full-bin reading. Pull it clear.
Reseat the Filter and Bin
Slide the filter back in the correct orientation until flush, then push the dustbin into the robot until it clicks. A crooked filter or an unseated bin leaks and mimics low suction.
Clear the Auto-Empty Station
On L20/X30/X40 Ultra models, check the station's suction tube and the opening the robot docks over for a clog, since a blocked station can back up airflow into the robot's bin.
Test and Escalate
Raise the suction level in the Dreamehome app, start a clean, and listen for strong suction. If it stays weak with an empty bin, clean dry filter, and clear path, the fan or a seal is failing - contact Dreame.
Quick Solutions
Still having issues? This is usually the deeper cause below.
If the robot returns to the dock mid-clean, moved furniture may have invalidated its map — a fresh floor scan resolves the majority of navigation failures.

List Your BusinessA damp filter is a sneaky cause of weak suction - keep a dry spare set and never refit a Dreame filter that isn't fully dry after rinsing.
